The Arizona Republic recently published a lengthy article about the citrus industry in Arizona, and they reached out to both David and Gary Griffith, President and Vice President of the Cold Hardy Citrus Foundation, to discuss the future of citrus production in Arizona.

Quoting from the article:

“‘Places on the edge of being suitable for citrus could be planted with orchards or backyard trees using the right varieties. A lot of agricultural areas in Arizona could be great matches,’” Gary Griffith said.

“‘Citrus will never become a thing in Alaska, but in zone 8 it could become a thing if you improve the cold hardiness in citrus,’ he added. ‘Just by a few degrees.’”
